Sealants

Pit and Fissure sealants are “plastic” (resin material) fillings that are bonded on newly formed permanent molars in both children and adolescents.

The sealant is placed in the “pits” and “grooves” of the chewing surfaces of the teeth to help prevent tooth decay.

Procedure:

  1. There is no freezing involved.
  2. The tooth surface is cleaned prior to placing the sealant.
  3. A tooth conditioner is placed on the tooth and then rinsed.
  4. The sealant (liquid form) is flowed into the pits and grooves and then cured or hardened with a special light.

Pit and Fissure sealants are a recommended preventive treatment for our younger clients. Speak to us regarding this service for your child.
